Overview

Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) is a public research university in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, China.

History

The university traces its origins to Nanyang Public University, founded in Shanghai in 1896. Parts of Jiaotong University relocated to Xi’an in the 1950s, and the Xi’an institution received its present name in 1959. The current university was further expanded through a merger in 2000.

XJTU offers programs across engineering, energy and power, electrical and electronic engineering, computing, mathematics, physics, chemistry, medicine, economics, management, public policy, humanities and other fields.
