The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) is a public university campus of the University of Minnesota system in Duluth, Minnesota.

History

Higher education on the Duluth campus has roots in the Duluth Normal School of the late nineteenth century. UMD was established as a coordinate campus of the University of Minnesota in 1947.

The University of Minnesota Duluth was established as a University of Minnesota branch in 1947; predecessor teacher-training institutions are older.
