Overview
University of Lady Fatimah Zahra most likely refers to Alzahra University (Persian: دانشگاه الزهرا), a public university for women in the Vanak district of Tehran, Iran. It was founded in 1964 and renamed after the Islamic Revolution, in 1983, in honour of Fatimah Zahra, daughter of the Prophet Muhammad — the full honorific form of her name is reflected in this English title. Alzahra University is the only comprehensive women’s university in Iran and one of the largest in the Middle East. This identification is probable given the distinctive naming, but not fully certain, since other institutions in Iran are also named after Fatimah Zahra (notably the Qom seminary Jami’at al-Zahra).
