Overview

Nizhny Tagil State Social and Pedagogical Academy is the oldest institution of higher education in Nizhny Tagil, Sverdlovsk Oblast, Russia. It was opened on 27 June 1939 as the Nizhny Tagil Teacher Institute, per a resolution of the RSFSR Council of People’s Commissars reorganizing teacher training colleges into teacher institutes, initially with departments of physics-mathematics, philology and history.

The institution passed state accreditation on 15 February 1999, gaining the right to issue state-standard diplomas, and was granted academy status in 2003 as the Nizhny Tagil State Social and Pedagogical Academy.
