Overview

Music School of Catalonia (Catalan: Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya, ESMUC) is the only official public institution in Catalonia, Spain, authorized to grant Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in advanced artistic music education within the European Higher Education Area. It was created in 2000 by decision of the Government of Catalonia and opened in September 2001, managed by the Fundació Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya.

ESMUC is based at L’Auditori, a Barcelona performing-arts center (inaugurated 1999) designed by architect Rafael Moneo, and enrolls more than 900 students across its bachelor’s, master’s, postgraduate and continuing-education programs.
