Overview
Istituto Filosofico Aloisianum was a Jesuit school of philosophy founded on 21 November 1839 at the Jesuit College of San Pietro in Piacenza, Italy, to train young Jesuits of the Lombard and Venetian provinces. It was later based at the Aloisianum in Gallarate, home to the Jesuits’ Pontifical Faculty of Philosophy for northern Italy, and named after the Jesuit Saint Luigi Gonzaga (Aloisius).
The Italian Jesuit Province transferred the institute’s seat to Padova in 1993. In 2013 the Aloisianum Institute of Padova, which trained young Jesuits in philosophy, closed, with its activities transferred to Rome; its philosophical archive was later acquired by the Facoltà Teologica del Triveneto.
