Overview
Croatian Conservation Institute (Croatian: Hrvatski restauratorski zavod) is the central public institution for conservation and restoration in the Republic of Croatia, based in Zagreb. It was founded on 19 December 1996 by decree of the Government of Croatia, merging two existing public institutions: the Institute for Restoration of Works of Art (founded 1948 at the then Yugoslav Academy of Sciences and Arts) and the Conservation Institute of Croatia (founded 1966).
The Institute conserves and restores immovable cultural heritage (architecture, wall paintings, mosaics, stone sculpture, stucco), movable cultural goods (paintings, wooden sculpture, furniture, works on paper, leather and textile artefacts, metalwork) and archaeological heritage.
