University of Colombo ( UoC ) — public higher education institution in Sri Lanka. UoC was founded in 1921. The main building of the university is located in Colombo inside an urban campus.

University of Colombo is medium in scale, teaching no more than 15 thousand students at a time. Foreign applicants are not excluded from the admission process. The teaching staff of UoC is composed of 934 academic specialists. UoC has exchange agreements with many educational institutions. The oldest campus in Sri Lanka, the University of Colombo is a sprawling complex occupying over fifty acres of prime land in the heart of the city. Today, «College House» (the administrative hub of the university) with its period architecture, is a well known landmark in the city.
