Sumy State University ( SSU ) — public higher education institution in Ukraine. SSU was founded in 1948. The university campus is of urban type and is located in the vicinity of Sumy.

Sumy State University is average in size with a capacity of 8 thousand students. The admission committee accepts the applications from foreign citizens. Every 6 student is a foreign citizen. The education is conducted by 759 teachers and professors. The university is an active participant of international programs aimed at academic exchange of students between the educational institutions. Sumy State University is a young full comprehensive Ukrainian state university with more than 50% of private funding sources, high international orientation and focus on research. The University currently serves more about 3 000 graduate and postgraduate students who are pursuing master and PhD degrees in 60 majors according to 40 directions in 23 fields of knowledge both full-time and part-time. The University holds high positions among Ukrainian higher education institutions for the number of prize-winning places in All-Ukrainian competitions of students’ research works and All-Ukrainian Olympiads in educational disciplines, training areas and majors. Prolific research groups at SSU are engaged in international grant programmes and projects of EU (Tempus, Erasmus Mundus, Youth in Action), United Nations Development Programme, World Bank programmes, grant projects of private foundations, bilateral research projects, etc. For the last 5 years the amount of research work in frames of international grant projects has increased in about 20 times. Currently SSU implements more than 30 international grant projects. Sumy State University’s academic staff includes Corresponding Members of the National Academy of Science of Ukraine, 85 Doctors of Sciences (D. Habil.), Professors and 500 Candidates of Sciences (Ph.D.), Associate Professors.
Bachelor — Sumy State University
Sumy State University currently serves more than 16,000 students who are pursuing pre-bachelor, bachelor and master degrees in 60 majors according to 40 directions in 23 fields of knowledge both full-time and part-time. Currently, about 1400 foreign students at SSU represent more than 50 countries worldwide. The Preparatory Department at SSU offers Russian and Ukrainian language courses to help foreign students succeed. Moreover, such majors as Medicine, Computer Science, Management and others are taught totally in English. SSU students actively take part in different international academic mobility programmes: long-term and short-term studying, internships and placement programmes in such countries as the USA, Germany, Poland, Belgium, Bulgaria and others. Advanced library system contains about 3 million items both in hard copies and e-copies and provides access to the most famous electronic databases of the world. Affiliated branch of UNESCO, resource and educational centers of MICROSOFT, CISCO, PortaOne, DELCAM, NETCRACKER, 1С, SIEMENS and other companies operate at SSU. 32 kinds of sports and 60 sports groups are available at the University. Sports teams perform at the premier league level. 22 students are the record breakers and prize winners of the Olympic Games, World and European Championships.
